Offered here is a vintage children's book about a Ragdoll, "Rag Doll Susie Her Adventures on Laughing Island", by Anne Wurth, illustrated by Fern Bisel Peat, Saalfield Publ., about 9 1/4" X 10 1/2", 1939, likely the first edition, pictorial glossy covers - not the later spiral bound book. Laughing Island is a pink gingham patch floating in the blue sky fifty miles beyond the nearest star. It"s the only known island that is inhabited soley by dolls! Whenever a doll is thrown away, it goes straight a-way to Laughing Island; only some dolls cannot wait. They go for a reason of their own, and are called "Too-Sooners". Susie Queen was a too sooner. Illustrated with 6 beautifully vivid color prints (4 full-page color; 2 of them double page); and various black and white drawings by Fern Bisel Peat. Black and white map endpages of Laughing Island, first star; Land O Jokes and Lollipop Land. Text and illustrations bright, clean and clear. 15 pages, not including title page of endpages.
