Very minor rubs to extremities and spine edge cloth bent from shelf. With a valuable chapter on the navigation of 'The Spirit of St. Louis' by Captain Robert Schofield Wood, D.F.C., M.C., Croix de Guerre; of the Independent Air Force, R.A.F., in France during the World War. Frontis is photo of Lindbergh in flight suit. Front side of Frontis has Eagle flying of Spirit of St. Louis. Christmas message on first blank endpage - Christmas, 1927 Dust Jacket has painted image of Lindbergh with the Spirit of St. Louis. Brown embossed and gilt decorated cloth bound - gilt spine titles - very rough cut page edges - ex-libris plate on first blank endpage - light flocking througout. Extremely minor bumps at the cover corners. Chipping of cloth aty spine heel and a little on the tip of the cloth at the spine head. Nice book!
Offered here is a wonderful anquitarian Autobiography book: "The Life of Benjamin Franklin illustrated by Tales, Sketches, and Anecdotes, Adapted To The Use Of Schools. With Engravings, by Himself", Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co., Philadelphia, 1838 (first published in 1832). Blue polished paper covered boards with calf binding and some scuffing on the covers, 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Split in calf trough along front cover - small piece missing at spine head. Corner is rubbed and rounded. Flocking throughout first few pages. Still a wonderful book with woodcut illustrations throughout. Name written on first blank endpage and name sticker on inside front cover. A Wonderful book by and about one of the Greatest Founding Fathers of our country!!!!

Quarter-bound leather on the spine and cover corners, blue cloth with fully legible gilt titles and decoration on front board, leather very warn at corners with cardboard showing through and chipped at spine head and heel - front gutter area leather partially split - insid eis nice. From the Prefatory Note: "The lad was barely out of his teens when the struggle ended (Civil War), in 1865, but his experience in camp, on the march, and in battle is ineffaceably stamped into his life and character". 100 original drawings by artist Frank Beard, who was himself a soldier in the Civil War
