Offered here is a vintage children's hardcover: "The Bible Gallery Illustrated" by Gustave Dore, With Memoir of Dore and Descriptive Letter-Press by Talbot W. Chambers, D.D., Cassell Publishing Co., New York, originally 1880, but the memoir by Talbot includes Dore' death in 1883. Gilt worn from title on spine, 100 pictures are very good. unpaginated - looks like a 150-200 - gilt edges, about 9 1/2" X 11 1/2". Brown illustrated and embossed, with gilt and black; with angels and Adam and Eve expulsion from the Garden of Eden on front, cloth boards and clothbound - In GREAT shape with rub throughs at the corners - back hinge torn - spine thus a little loose!!!

Leather bound with most leather missing from front board, hinges tight and spine complete with tattered ends. Typically bound with the original paper covers removed. Each month has the portrait frontis and the title page. Name written on first blank endpage and name and date (1812) written on inside of front cover. Loaded with religious related sermons and info., genelogical information including numeorus obituaries, poetry, funds balances for charitable organizations, religious book reviews, religious memoirs. Very scarce early year of this well known magazine.

Marbled paper covered boards - spine leather coverd with brown plastic tape - slightly rounded at corners. Front endpages missing - pages lightly tanned with light foxing. Over-all a great little book, about 4 1/4" X 6 3/4" - original red silk place marker in book.
