Offered here is a wonderful antiquarian book: "The Green Mountain Boys: A Historical Tale Of The Early Settlement of Vermont", Two Volumes in One, Revised Edition, Bazin & Elssworth, Boston, 1848, 364pp. Tan heavily embossed cloth boards - gilt titles and decorations on the spine.  Bumps and rubs at the cover corners and bottom edges - cloth at spine head and heel worn - slight lean.   Name and date with fountain pen on first blank end page.

Offered here is a anquitarian vintage and scarce Russian book by Tolstoi, "The Kreutzer Sonata", by  Count Leo Tolstoi, - Sergel & Co. Chicago: (1890) Softcover . Original wrappers, 170 pp., translator anonymous. Sergei's Columbian Library, Vol. One, No. One, July, 1890. 'Not in Line', who lists this as No. 1 of Sergei's International Library, which he never saw. At least four English translations of "The Kreutzer Sonata" appeared in 1890. the one taking priority is not specified (Line, pp. 71-74). Paper browned, a Very Good copy.

Many poems by soldiers in the trench including "The Wood Called Rouge-Bouquet" by Joyce Kilmer (killed in action, July 30, 1918), also poems by Grantland Rice, Franklin P. Adams & several others of note plus many more average G.I."s. at the front. They have come in from the field, the back areas, the ports; they have been written on the eve of battle; the men who wrote some of them have paid for great price. They are the heart & soul of the American Army in France. It is their only claim to distinction. It is enough. Brown paper wrappers & low-grade pages with uncut edges.  Untrimmed at flapped edge - which is chipped.
