Webster, Cupples & Leon, New York, 1909.; Excellent cream colored cloth with red and black illustration, stamped black titles, a hint of bumps at the extremities, age disintegration of cloth at front trough, wonderful book, in good and very scarce dust jacket with a large chip missing from the bottom of the jacket spine - brittle and sunned at spine. Titles in the book end with "Jack The Runaway." Second edition (1910ca). Illustrated by drawings.

Offered here is a vintage Horatio Alger children's hardcover: "Young Explorer; Or, Among The Sierras", Horatio Alger, Jr., Porter & Coates Edition, Philadelphia, Publ., 1880, 285pp. This was the last title that was published by Loring, in 1880. The last page ends with statement that : The fourth and concluding volume of the Pacific Series will be called "Ben's Nugget; or, A Boy's Search for Fortune", the first edition of Ben's Nugget" was published by Porter & Coates in 1882, thus this very early edition of Young Explorer. Brown blind stamped decorated cloth boards with cloth binding with gilt ornate decorations etc - cover worn at extremities - minor bumps and rubs at the extremities and spine head and heel. Dark Green endpages. Double elaborately illustrated frontis with protective tissue.
